While visiting for practice on Friday, DE M.J. Webb became the fourth 4-star commitment in South Carolina’s 2017 class.
Webb, who’s Morgan County High School in Madison, Ga., is the No. 8 ranked strong-side defensive end in the country. He committed to the Gamecocks over offers from Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Webb is the No. 240 overall prospect in the class of 2017, two spots ahead of South Carolina WR commitment Shi Smith.
With his commitment, Webb joins Smith, T.J. Moore and Hamsah Nasirildeen as the fourth 4-star in the Gamecocks 2017 haul.
Earlier this year, while visiting South Carolina, Webb sat down with coach Will Muschamp for an in-depth look at his scheme.
“He’s a great coach,” Webb said. “The way he runs it, it’s a 4-3 or a 3-4 (base defense). I like that. We do that a little bit. We’re 3-4 strong, but he was just showing how he would prepare me for the NFL.”
