South Carolina has reportedly added home games with Coastal Carolina and Chattanooga to future schedules.
The Gamecocks will open the 2018 season at home against Coastal Carolina on Sept. 1, according FBSchedules’ Kevin Kelley. The Chanticleers will return to Columbia for another game in 2020. Coastal Carolina will receive $1.2 million for the first matchup and $1.4 million for the second game.
Chattanooga also will play South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium on Nov. 17, 2018. The Mocs will receive a $400,000 payout for that game.
Coastal Carolina will officially be an FBS nonconference opponent for the Gamecocks when the two programs meet. The Chanticleers are joining the FBS this season as a member of the Sun Belt. They were previously part of the Big South in the FCS.
South Carolina’s 2018 nonconference schedule now includes home games against Coastal Carolina, Marshall (Sept. 15) and Chattanooga, with a road game against rival Clemson (Nov. 24). The Gamecocks have two more nonconference slots to fill for 2020.
