South Carolina has added a non-conference opponent to three future schedules.
On Thursday, the Gamecocks announced they will play Appalachian State in 2019, 2025 and 2027. They will host the Mountaineers in 2019 and 2027 and travel to Boone, N.C., in 2025.
The first matchup in the three-game series will occur on Nov. 9 2019. The two schools will face again on Sept. 20, 2025. A date has not been selected for the 2027 matchup.
South Carolina leads the all-time series with Appalachian State, 8-1. All nine games took place in Columbia from 1972-88.
The football matchups are part of a larger agreement between the two schools that also includes a six-year baseball series.
The Gamecocks also announced another pair of future non-conference opponents. They will host Troy on Sept. 25, 2021, and they’ll host Georgia State on Sept. 3, 2022.
South Carolina has won all three previous matchups against Troy, and it has never faced Georgia State.
