South Carolina starter leaves Tennessee game with apparent injury
A big collision with Tennessee tailback Jalen Hurd sent South Carolina defensive back Al Harris Jr. back to the locker room during Saturday’s game at Neyland Stadium.
Late in the first quarter, the 163-pound Harris went low while trying to tackle Hurd (240 pounds) at the tail end of a 15-yard gain. Harris, who appeared to lead with his shoulder, was shaken up and taken directly to the locker room with the help of two trainers. The Gamecocks have given no update on the sophomore’s status at this time.
Harris has appeared at cornerback in every game for South Carolina, making 22 tackles and breaking up four passes. Sophomore Chris Lammons has seen extra time on the field in his absence.
