South Carolina has traditionally recruited strong in the state of Georgia, particularly the Atlanta area.
The Gamecocks got a commitment from Dennis Wonnum, a 3-star defensive end from Stephenson High School, early Sunday, per multiple reports.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Wonnum is rated as Georgia’s No. 151 overall prospect, per the 247sports composite rankings.
This is Wonnum’s second time committing this month after he pledged to Indiana after an official visit last week. He backed off that decision before the trip to South Carolina.
Wonnum is commitment No. 25 for South Carolina’s recruiting class this year under new coach Will Muschamp. Earlier on Sunday, the Gamecocks landed another former Georgia standout, Tyren Jones of Walton High School. Jones started his college career at Alabama but was later dismissed. Jones played at a junior college this past season.
