South Carolina will host High Point in its NIT opener Tuesday night, but five Gamecocks won’t be present.
In a press release, South Carolina coach Frank Martin announced the indefinite suspensions of freshman guard TeMarcus Blanton, sophomore guard Marcus Stroman, freshman forward Chris Silva, freshman forward Eric Cobb and freshman guard Jamall Gregory. The suspensions are due to a conduct issue.
Silva is the only player among the group to start any games (six) this season. Blanton has played in eight games, while Stroman, Gregory and Cobb have played in at least 20 games.
South Carolina will, however, have leading scorer Michael Carrera available after he missed the last two games with a right hip injury.
The Gamecocks tip off against High Point at 7 p.m. ET.
