South Carolina freshman tight end Connor Redmond is no longer with the team after taking a medical hardship disqualification because of a back injury, according to The State’s Josh Kendall. The injury held him out for the entire season.
Redmond, a former 3-star recruit from Archer High School (Lawrenceville, Ga.), dealt with a back injury that hampered him during his senior year of high school. He is the fourth South Carolina player that has had to take a medical disqualification, according to Kendall.
The Gamecocks will be left with four tight ends on its 2016 roster and only two of them, sophomore Kyle Markway and redshirt sophomore Jacob August, caught passes last season. The duo combined to make seven receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown last season.
