South Carolina’s football season isn’t going according to plan, but there’s a lot brewing in Columbia, S.C.
The university unveiled its brand-new practice facility on Thursday night, which is called “Ken Wheat Field” to honor the 1969 ACC Championship team.
“This is a very special facility we have,” South Carolina Athletic Director Ray Tanner said, crediting the Wheat Family for helping to make it a reality.
“We’re really excited for what this facility does for our football program. It’s a wonderful facility. People from around the country call it one of the more impressive facilities. As an athletic program, we continue to put our athletes in a position to be successful. We’ve continued to add locker rooms, improvements, fields and now an indoor facility for our football program, and it’s very special.”

Tanner added that more graphics will be added to the facility in the spring or summer.
