COLUMBIA, S.C. – Skai Moore is back in the South Carolina weight room after being cleared last week.
“He was cleared Monday or Tuesday of last week,” coach Will Muschamp said. “He is running. He is lifting. He is spending a lot of time in the weight room.”
The senior linebacker is sitting out the 2016 season after undergoing neck fusion surgery in June. He is eligible to return in 2017. With his recovery process progressing, he is working on things that Muschamp felt are necessary, including getting stronger and more powerful.
“He has been able to go in the weight room with our strength staff and been able to lift and focus on those things he can do to continue to improve,” Muschamp said. “That’s what we are going to do. It’s about getting better every single day and how you can you improve yourself. …
“He works extremely hard. But his health is very good.”
While Moore is out for the season, the Gamecocks are hoping to bolster their linebacker corps with Larenz Bryant soon. The senior is running in practice as he works back from a preseason hamstring injury.
“He is a guy we are hoping to get back in the next couple weeks,” Muschamp said.
