Whenever Will Muschamp lands a commitment, the South Carolina coach drops a #SpursUp on Twitter. Come take a look at SEC Country for the latest news, notes and observations on the prospects who could be the newest Gamecocks.
Gamecocks made the cut for 2017 DE
On Saturday night, South Carolina landed in the lead group for a pair of prospects, one from the 2017 class and another from the 2018 haul.
Michael Allen, a 3-star defensive end from Lanier High School in Buford, Ga., is the No. 21-ranked weak-side defensive end in the class of 2017. He is also the No. 37 overall prospect from the state of Georgia.
South Carolina made the cut, along three others from the SEC. Allen visited South Carolina earlier this spring. There is no word yet if he plans to be back at some point this week.
The 2018 target
Dyami Brown also has a spot on his list for South Carolina. The Gamecocks were listed at the bottom of the six-school list Brown tweeted on Saturday night.

The 6-foot-8, 215-pound prospect from Seminole High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., also has offers from James Madison, USF, Western Carolina and Wyoming.
Speaking of basketball recruiting, South Carolina will reportedly host a visitor on Sunday. According to Phil Kornblut of sportstalks.com, 6-foot-9 forward Ran Tut is going to be on campus for an official visit.
Tut, who is from Australia, played the last two seasons at Monroe Junior College in New York. Last season he averaged 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Wisconsin-Milwaukee, San Francisco, Kansas State and Murray State are also receiving consideration.
