We won’t have to wait a week to know who will start under center for South Carolina next week.
After a 45-24 loss to No. 7 LSU, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier announced Perry Orth will make a second consecutive start in place of an injured Lorenzo Nunez next week when the Gamecocks takes on Vanderbilt at home.
It will be Orth’s third start of the season. He previously got the nod against UGA and Saturday versus LSU.
According to Spurrier, Nunez was available to play against LSU. However, he did not because he was limited due to a shoulder sprain he suffered last week in the fourth quarter against Missouri.
Orth put up career-best statistics as he passed for 200 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against LSU.
Spurrier expects Orth to start next week, he said.

Spurrier says Lorenzo Nunez couldn't raise his throwing arm at all this week. Status in doubt for Vandy game.
