Steve Spurrier named junior Perry Orth South Carolina’s starting quarterback after an injury to Connor Mitch against Kentucky. But Orth won’t be the only Gamecock quarterback to see the field on Saturday against Georgia.
Spurrier said true freshman Lorenzo Nunez from Harrison High School (Kennesaw, Ga.) will also play in Athens.
“He’ll go in and out a little bit,” Spurrier said, according to David Caraviello of The Post and Courier.
Nunez hasn’t thrown a pass this season, but the dual-threat quarterback has carried the ball twice for 40 yards.
Spurrier further remarked that third-stringer Michael Scarnecchia could even work his way into the South Carolina quarterbacking mix, according to Caraviello.
Spurrier adds there "may be a place" for third-string QB Michael Scarnecchia in the game as well.
