Although Steve Spurrier resigned in early October, South Carolina continued to pay the Head Ball Coach through the remainder of his contract.
However, Spurrier’s final paycheck went right back to the university
Spurrier donated his last paycheck from the university — which was worth $70,000 — to the Gamecock Club, according to The State.
The Gamecock club provides financial support to South Carolina’s athletes in all sports. It helps cover costs such as tuition, meals, medical costs and other educational needs.
When Spurrier resigned, South Carolina still owed him about $1 million of the total $4 million he was due in 2015.
