After losing to No. 7 UGA 52-20 last week in Athens, South Carolina decided to make a couple of changes on the defensive side of the ball.
On Tuesday, it was announced that redshirt junior linebacker T.J. Holloman, who played last week at strongside linebacker, will get the start at middle linebacker this week against UCF, according to Willie Smith of The Greenville News. In addition, Skai Moore will move to the weakside.
After practice, Gamecocks co-defensive coordinator Jon Hoke spoke about Holloman’s increased role on the defense.
“He played (strongside) the last game, did a good job, did his job, played hard, had some good run fits for us. He is an experienced guy, he’s played so we’re excited to see,” Hoke told reporters.
It will be interesting to see what Holloman can do in an expanded role playing in the middle, because he only had four tackles last week.
