12:59 p.m. — “(Massachusetts) is a football team that was a 10-7 game going into the fourth quarter down at The Swamp in Florida.”
1:01 p.m. — At punt returner, Muschamp said they put the guy under duress during practice, encourage the players track the tip of the ball. “Sometimes, it’s a little different when there are 11 guys running at you.”
1:02 p.m. — When asked about Jake Bentley, Muschamp said, “We’re making a decision that we think is best for our football team. Leaving camp, Perry (Orth) and Brandon (McIlwain) were ahead of Jake.”
1:03 p.m. — “As we’ve continued to meet and work and practice … we’ve tried to evaluate the position for what’s best for our football team.
1:04 p.m. — Rashad Fenton, Chris Lammons, Bryan Edwards, Kiel Pollard and A.J. Turner continue to work at punt returner.
1:05 p.m. — Muschamp said he normally encourages player to stay out of the building during the bye week, unless they need to be around to treat injuries.
1:06 p.m. — “I thought Sunday, we had a very spirited practice. I thought we had a very workman-like practice today, for a Tuesday practice.”
1:08 p.m. — “I think we challenged them on our physicality, stopping the run and running the ball,” Muschamp said, when asked about bye week objectives.
1:09 p.m. — “Taylor (Stallworth) plays square on the line of scrimmage, which is something the good d-linemen I’ve been around do … we need more guys like him to play on blocks like he plays on blocks.”
1:11 p.m. — “Really pleased with Shameik’s (Blackshear) approach and work-ethic … Shameik runs extremely well and is going to be a really good football player. When you miss that much time of lifting and strength, getting your body ready … that’s what’s holding him back right now. Nothing else. He’s bright. He plays hard. He practices hard. He runs extremely well. We’ve got to get him stronger.”
1:13 p.m. — “I think it’s all based on personal, what you like to do. I love high school football … I always like to see guys your recruiting compete.” Muschamp said he saw “about” four games this past week. Plans to see more this week.
1:14 p.m. — “I talk to our guys all the time. Our seniors want to go to a bowl game. It’s important for our program, but the most important thing is for our seniors.”
1:16 p.m. — “He’s been really good, situationally, for us,” Muschamp said, when asked about Darius English.
1:17 p.m. — Muschamp said when they began recruiting Keir Thomas 2-3 years ago that he was 220 pounds. His body has grown and developed the right way. “He’s a guy that continues to progress. He continues to come out to practice the right way. He approaches things the way you’re supposed to approach them.”
1:18 p.m. — When asked how difficult it can be for an offense to prepare with a question at quarterback, Muschamp said, “We don’t have a lot of questions in the building right now.”
1:20 p.m. — Larenz Bryant will start Saturday at SAM linebacker. “We’ve really missed him on special teams during our first six games … we’re excited to get Larenz back out there.”
