Two players have changed numbers ahead of South Carolina’s game against Texas A&M.
Just days after former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore tweeted some kind things about Rico Dowdle, the freshman running back from Asheville, N.C. has switched his jersey number from 21 to 23.
Earlier this week, coach Will Muschamp told reporters that he expected Dowdle to play primarily on special teams against the Aggies.
Javon Charleston, who was moved back to wide receiver from safety, is also back to wearing No. 88. While he was working on the defensive side of the ball, the redshirt freshman from Gurney, Ill. wore No. 12.
Had he not changed numbers Charleston would have shared 12 with reserve quarterback Michael Scarnecchia.
South Carolina takes on No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday at 4 p.m. on SEC Network.
