MOBILE, Ala. — Two-time Alabama high school state champion Darius Whitfield is ready for the college experience.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive tackle from St. Paul’s Episcopal is set to report for duty next week. On Thursday, the three-star recruit met with SEC Country to discuss his future at South Carolina.
Whitfield committed to the Gamecocks last fall, after Steve Spurrier announced his retirement. Whitfield held true to his word through Shawn Elliott’s stint as interim coach and reaffirmed the pledge to coach Will Muschamp.
In the video above, Whitfield shares his thoughts on former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, his plans for year one in Columbia and a message for Gamecock fans.
