WATCH: Former South Carolina pitcher Jordan Montgomery OK after taking foul ball to head during Yankees BP

Jordan Montgomery found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time during batting practice before the New York Yankees’ game against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.

Montgomery, a rookie starting pitcher from South Carolina, was signing autographs in foul territory down the right-field line when a foul ball cleared the screen in front of him and hit him in the head.

Both the Yankees and Red Sox pregame shows inadvertently caught footage of the incident. Watch them both below:

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal and YES Yankees clubhouse reporter Meredith Marakovits initially broke the news and then provided updates about Montgomery, who remains scheduled to start Sunday night.

Yankees MLB reporter Brian Hoch provided more information and some encouraging news.

After playing for the Gamecocks in Columbia, Montgomery is enjoying his first major-league season, starting 21 games for New York while compiling a 7-6 record with a 4.05 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 115 2/3 innings.
