Darius Rucker knows how to kick off a show.
The country music star held a concert Wednesday in Columbia, one that was made possible after South Carolina’s football team won six games last season. But the event turned into a larger celebration for the Gamecocks’ recent achievements on the hardwood.
As shown below, South Carolina men’s basketball coach Frank Martin and women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley led the crowd at Colonial Life Arena in a loud “GAME-COCKS” cheer. This will get the blood pumping for any South Carolina fan.

What a month it was for South Carolina basketball followers. The Gamecocks women’s team is fresh off winning a national title in Dallas on Sunday. The men’s team made a memorable run to the Final Four in Arizona before losing to Gonzaga last Saturday.
There were so many memories. Martin’s team became an NCAA Tournament darling among many after upsetting Duke in the second round. Staley’s squad turned back Mississippi State during an all-SEC showdown in the national championship game, a showcase that became a point of pride for the league.
Sure, Rucker was the center of attention Wednesday. But Staley and Martin were stars as well.
