STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – For D.J. Wonnum, the third-time was the charm.
Wonnum first committed to Iowa State in June before de-committing in November. In late January, after an official visit to Indiana, the three-star defensive end was ready to take his talents to Bloomington, Ind.
Then South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson came forward with an offer to play for the Gamecocks in the SEC. Two days after he committed to the Hoosiers, Wonnum was on campus in Columbia, S.C., for an official visit.
The Gamecocks had his commitment before the weekend was over. Signed and sealed in February, Wonnum is ready to report South Carolina later this month.
SEC Country was at Stephenson High School on Monday for an interview with Wonnum. In the video above, Wonnum shared his immediate plans at South Carolina, what he’ll bring to the table on defense and a message for Gamecock fans.
