Jake Bentley was pumped about South Carolina’s first score.
The freshman quarterback received the starting nod Saturday when the Gamecocks hosted Massachusetts at Williams-Brice Stadium. The first drive for Bentley couldn’t have gone much better, and he let his emotions show afterward. South Carolina jumped to a 7-0 lead after Rico Dowdle capped a nine-play, 76-yard march with a 1-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter.
Safe to say Bentley was ecstatic.

It will be interesting to see how Bentley fares throughout the afternoon. He didn’t play in the Gamecocks’ first six games this season. He enrolled over the summer at South Carolina after choosing to skip his senior year at Opelika (Ala.) High School.
