COLUMBIA, S.C. – It’s official: Elliott Fry has received an endorsement from Bryson Allen-Williams.
“If you want the right guy, pick Fry,” Allen-Williams said during SEC Country’s Election Day straw poll.
Allen-Williams wasn’t the only South Carolina player who said Fry is the most likely Gamecock to become President of the United States.
However, Will Muschamp’s candidate list didn’t include Fry, and that might become be a point of contention between the coach and senior kicker.
“The good thing is we’ve got several candidates, I would say. Perry Orth would be a guy, to me, who would be politically correct. We have a couple of them that aren’t politically correct, (but) we’ve got several guys that are extremely bright,” Muschamp said. “Certainly, if they wanted to head down the road of politics, they certainly would be good. Mason Zandi is a guy. T.J. Holloman, T.J. Holloman is a guy.
“I’m probably going to leave some guys out. They’re going to be mad at me, but those three jump out at me right there, as far as guys, if that’s the world they wanted to live in, they probably would be good.”
Here’s what the players had to say during Tuesday’s poll at Williams-Brice Stadium:
LB Bryson Allen-Williams (Ellenwood, Ga.)
“I would say Elliott Fry. He’s a very likeable person. He’s very charismatic and he has a good personality, so if Elliott runs for President in a couple of years, I would probably vote for him.”
LG Zack Bailey (Summerville, S.C.)
“Probably Mason Zandi. I think, just the character that he brings to the table. I think I would be very interested in seeing him in office.”
CB Chris Lammons (Lauderhill, Fla.)
“President? It would probably be me.”
S Chris Moody (McDonough, Ga.)
“He’s actually one of the smartest guys I’ve ever been around in my whole life. If it was somebody, it would have to be T.J. Holloman.”
WR Deebo Samuel (Inman, S.C.)
“Perry Orth. I just feel like he’s real smart.”
DT Taylor Stallworth (Mobile, Ala.)
“Mr. Holloman. The way he dresses, you should see him on game day, he has on his Presidential suit, has his little (pocket square) right there. In a couple of years, he might be President, honestly.”
LB Jonathan Walton (Daphne, Ala.)
“Elliott Fry and Drew Williams. They’re very intelligent guys. I feel like they’re very good with people, politics. Sean Kelly, also, he loves the law. I think he’s a criminal justice major. He’s all about the law.”
RB David Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.)
“Elliott Fry would be really good. Just his humor, and he knows everything that is going. I think he would be a great President.”
LT Mason Zandi (Chapin, S.C.)
“Perry is a very diplomatic, a very intelligent man. (He) has strong ideals that lineup with certain parties … he’s a cold-stone leader, man. Got put down to third-string quarterback, but he still takes the first-string quarterback in the film room and watches film with him and helps him diagnose the game. I’ve got nothing but respect for Perry Orth. For the rest of my life, I’ll remember what he did here.”
