COLUMBIA, S.C. — Will Muschamp did not name a starting quarterback for the Gamecocks’ first three games this season.
But the South Carolina coach already has named his starter for the next one.
Freshman Brandon McIlwain will be Muschamp’s starter moving forward after USC’s 20-15 win, the coach said Saturday.
McIlwain played from start to finish against East Carolina. He completed 16 of 28 passes for 195 yards. He ran for 2 touchdowns and 34 yards on nine carries.
Muschamp said the decision was made Sunday to start McIlwain against East Carolina.
