Will Muschamp may be new to the Clemson-South Carolina rivalry, but he’s jumping in with both feet.
The new Gamecocks coach was making the rounds with the media at a South Carolina Coaches for Charity event in Greenville, S.C. on Tuesday when he ran into Clemson coach Dabo Swinney.
During a handshake, which was done in front of the cameras, Muschamp jokingly delivers some bad news to Swinney: “Your wife was hitting on me.”
It surely caught Swinney off guard, who quipped back, “She’s a flirt.”

Not a bad start to the rivalry, Muschamp. Not bad at all.
The Gamecocks will close out the regular season with a trip to play the Tigers at Memorial Stadium on Nov. 26, giving Muschamp a chance to really make his stamp on the rivalry.
Though South Carolina limped to a 3-9 finish last season after Steve Spurrier’s mid-season retirement, the Gamecocks pushed Clemson to the limit in a 37-32 loss at Williams-Brice Stadium last fall. The Tigers went on to play in the College Football Playoff, eventually losing to Alabama in the national championship game.
