Several SEC schools made Thomas’ top7: Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Florida State and Ohio State were also included on that list.
Thomas grew up about an hour away from Columbia, S.C., rooting for the Gamecocks. He’s also made several trips to the campus, including a handful of games this season.
The first major turning point in Thomas’ recruitment came over a year ago when he dropped his distaste for Clemson. His interest in the Tigers was realized while he was on campus for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, the summer before his sophomore year.
Pegged early on as a South Carolina lean, the industry sentiment has since shifted. Clemson’s run at the top of the college football mountain has them squarely in play.
