There is no shortage of news surrounding the Tennessee football program these days. That was the case once again during coach Butch Jones’ midweek press conference Wednesday when a big dismissal and injuries ruled the day.
Let’s get you caught up to speed with all the Tennessee news around the Internet:
- Alton “Pig” Howard was dismissed from the football team Wednesday. Jones had said Howard was battling injuries throughout the first month of the season. However, Jones emphasized that those injuries were not related to the dismissal.
- Injuries continue to be a concern for the Vols. However, some of the news was encouraging during Jones’ press conference Wednesday. Receiver Marquez North (leg) and defensive end Kyle Phillips (shoulder) are both expected to play Saturday, but will be evaluated over the next two days. Starting offensive tackle Brett Kendrick’s status is still in question.
- Tennessee team leaders don’t deny being disappointed in Howard’s dismissal. Tennessee247’s Wes Rucker talked with several Tennessee players about the dismissal and documented their reactions.
- Defensive coordinator John Jancek is asking for patience in regard to his unit. KnoxNews.com’s Mike Strange spoke with Janeck, as he looked back on Tennessee’s loss to Arkansas and looked forward to UGA.
