KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — After rumors swirled that Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs could miss Saturday’s showdown against Virginia Tech with broken ribs, Volunteers coach Butch Jones told reporters Monday that some folks “needed to check their sources.”
Dobbs sustained a vicious hit in overtime against Appalachian State last Thursday, but practiced Monday and Tuesday this week.
Jones doubled-down on Dobbs’ health again Wednesday during the weekly SEC Teleconference, saying, “he’s 100 percent healthy. We do a daily injury report and his name has not been on it one time.
“It’s really unfortunate in the world of college football and social media that some erroneous reporting would be done. That he’s injured or has ribs. I’ve heard it all. What we forget is that these are young adults. … These reports are 100 percent erroneous and false.”
