Tennessee’s Evan Berry escaped through a gang of defenders to record his first career kickoff return for a touchdown on Saturday in what ranks among the best plays of the 2015 season (see below).
With Tennessee leading Western Carolina, 31-7, late in the second quarter, Berry fielded the kickoff from the 12-yard line and looked to be stopped at the 35 before making video game-like jukes and spin moves on an 88-yard score. The freshman’s touchdown pushed Tennessee ahead 41-7 at halftime.
Berry entered Saturday’s game with a 35.3-yard kickoff return average, which ranked ninth in the FBS. His brother, former Vols and current Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry, was on Tennessee’s sideline during the play.
