Lane Kiffin has only been out of the SEC for one season, but he could be back sooner rather than later.
ESPN’s Chris Low went on Jayson Swain’s radio show in Knoxville and had some very interesting comments regarding Kiffin’s interest in the Tennessee job.
“Lane is definitely on board if Tennessee gives him a call,” Low said. “That’s not going to happen, but as he told me, ‘People break up all the time and get back together.'”
That part of the conversation occurs at about the 1:36:00 mark in this video:

Kiffin was briefly Tennessee’s head coach in 2009 before leaving Knoxville to take the Tennessee job. That was two head coaches ago for the Vols, who have had to fire Derek Dooley and Butch Jones since Kiffin’s surprise departure.
Tennessee parted ways with Jones earlier this month.
Kiffin is currently the head coach at Florida Atlantic and seems to be building a quality program. The Owls are 8-3 overall and 7-0 in the C-USA. They are schedule to face North Texas in the C-USA Championship Game on Dec. 2.
Other than ESPN’s Jon Gruden, a primary candidate has not emerged for Tennessee.
