Tennessee has the third most valuable football team in the NCAA, according to a recent study by Forbes magazine.
The Vols’ program was valued at $121 million, behind only Texas ($152 million) and Notre Dame ($127 million). LSU came in at No. 4 ($111 million), followed by Michigan at No. 5 ($105 million) and UGA at No. 6 ($102 million)
Last year, Tennessee ranked seventh in estimated value at $94 million. According to the report, the Vols had a profit margin of 74 percent last year, second only to Texas. Just seven other teams in the nation had positive revenue margins of more than 60 percent.
Forbes stated that their valuation methodology relies heavily on team earnings directed toward academics and other athletic programs.
