A lot has changed since Jason Witten first entered the NFL in 2003. The league had a different commissioner, the iPhone had not been invented and “hashtag” wasn’t a word.
All the while, the former Tennessee tight end has been hauling in catches with incredible consistency. And during the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day loss to the Panthers, Witten’s sustained success showed itself once again when he hit an enormous career milestone: 11,000 yards receiving. Witten became just the second tight end in NFL history to reach that lofty plateau.
Whether the 33-year-old can top Tony Gonzalez’s otherworldly lifetime mark of 15,127 yards before retiring might be a stretch, but that doesn’t take anything away from the incredible legacy he’s built to this point.
