The college football season is officially a month away. And now everyone is beginning to make their predictions and name their top-25 lists ahead of the beginning of the season.
Ranking teams at this point of the season is pretty much agreed to be useless since no one has played a game and most teams are running their currency on their reputation as a program and momentum from the end of the season.
No one likes doing them, but they do them and then stick to them until they finally can watch a game.
It sets the tone for the season and expectations.
No one outside the SEC may know the conference quite like Tim Brando. The former CBS Sports anchor and current FOX Sports studio host Tim Brando announced his top 10 for the college football season and it includes three SEC teams, including one of the dark horses.
Brando appears to be buying into Tennessee.

Alabama and LSU are typical favorites and the two favorites to win the SEC outright. The two West Division foes have been battling nonstop for the conference title.
Tennessee though at No. 7 is a bit of a surprise. The Volunteers have not been to the conference championship game in a decade. They seem to be poised to take the next big step for their program. Many believe they are the clear favorites to win the SEC East. Get over that early hurdle against Florida, and Tennessee could be in for a very special season.
Alabama and LSU will still be jostling for position. The two teams are the clear favorites to win the SEC once again. And the winner of that battle likely gets a berth in the College Football Playoff. Tennessee though should be right there if the team can prove itself early in the season.
We will just have to play the games first.
