KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Well the streak is dead and buried, but now the question is whether Tennessee is riding so high it forgets to show up Saturday against Georgia.
I don’t think so, but we’ll see.
Last week I nailed all five predictions.
GIVE ME THE PROGNOSTICATING HEISMAN! Let’s see if I can draw aces on back-to-back weeks.
Here are five predictions for No. 11 Tennessee at No. 25 Georgia (3:30 p.m., CBS).
1. Over/under 350 total yards for quarterback Josh Dobbs?
Under. Tennessee’s duel-threat quarterback totaled 430 yards and 5 touchdowns in the comeback win over Georgia last season. The Bulldogs won’t let the senior single-handily beat them again.
2. Who will be Saturday’s breakout star?
Kick returner Evan Berry Jr. The Bulldogs have just 6 touchbacks on the season and their coverage units are middling — at best. Tennessee’s electric returner should get some opportunities to flip the field on Saturday.
3. Will Josh Malone catch a touchdown pass for the fifth-straight game?
Yup. Tennessee’s junior receiver has developed into one of the most explosive wideouts in the SEC. After entering the season with 3 career scores, Malone has 5 touchdowns this season. He leads Tennessee with 13 catches for 287 yards and should have another big performance against UGA’s spotty secondary.
4. Will the Volunteers retaliate for Shy Tuttle’s injury last season?
I know they’ve said — to a man — that the team has put Tuttle’s injury behind them, but I fully expect a couple early game penalties.
5. Can Tennessee grab a stranglehold on the SEC East?
Yes. The Volunteers move to 5-0 with Top 10 showdowns against Texas A&M and Alabama looming.
