Tennessee will try to earn a needed victory against Kentucky. On Monday, the kickoff time and television network were revealed for the Vols’ game against the Golden Eagles.
Tennessee and Southern Miss will face off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Nov. 4 in Knoxville, Tenn. It will be televised on SEC Network.
The Vols have stumbled to a 3-4 record this season and need to get back on the right track. The game against Conference USA opponent Southern Miss might be the best opportunity.
Tennessee doesn’t have a win against a SEC opponent yet. Coach Butch Jones said after the 45-7 loss to Alabama the team still has plenty to play for this season.
“It’s all about our players,” Jones said. “It’s all about our kids. They’re working very, very hard. I hurt for them because they invest so much in it. And, you know, like I told them, right now our leadership’s being challenged, our maturity’s being challenged, but we have to continue to stay together and work. And how you feel in that locker room right now, you have to apply it to during the week, all that in terms of sacrificing and committing and taking pride in your preparation.
“But I hurt for the players because we expect to win. That’s why you play the game.”
Tennessee has gone 14 quarters without an offensive touchdown. This streak has become a pretty large storyline surrounding the team.
The Vols switched quarterbacks two games ago from junior Quinten Dormady to Jarrett Guarantano. He lost his first two starts but showed some positives with his poise at Alabama last week. Guarantano finished completing 9 of 16 passes for 44 yards.
If Tennessee loses on the road to Kentucky this weekend, Guarantano will look for his first win against Southern Miss.
