Lane Kiffin might be the host with the most this summer. What he will have the most of — commitments, spotlight, drama — is yet to be determined.
Kiffin, ahead of his first season as Florida Atlantic’s head coach, will host multiple recruiting camps this summer. And one school sending coaches to FAU to work one of Kiffin’s camps: Tennessee.
Yes, according to Chuck King of FAU Owl Access, the Volunteers are set to send coaches to Boca Raton for a recruiting camp on June 5. Kiffin, you may recall, coached the Volunteers to a 7-6 record in 2009. Then he bounced to be the head coach at USC.
He returned to the SEC to be Alabama’s offensive coordinator for the last three seasons, defeating the Volunteers each year by scores of 34-20, 19-14, and 49-10. Tennessee fans likely want nothing to do with him, but their coaches will be scouting future talent in the place Kiffin now calls home. Full circle (kinda).
“The camp evaluation is huge for both sides because we get to evaluate (recruits) and they get to evaluate how we coach,” Kiffin said. “We’re in a constant battle every day trying to get kids to come to campus and to be in our camps.”
And if the Kiffin/Tennessee entrée wasn’t enough, Michigan’s entire staff, led by Jim Harbaugh, as well as Arkansas and Bret Bielema, will be present at the June 5 camp.
Can we get a film crew there as well?
