Phillip Fulmer is Tennessee’s new athletic director, and the former coach is serious about delivering results in his role.
On Saturday, C. John Chavis, a former Tennessee football student manager, used Twitter to publish a note from Fulmer in which the athletic director relayed his desire to being “committed to finding the next leader of our football program.” Fulmer also wrote that Tennessee “is a great and proud place” and that the program needs support from people who are “part of the fabric of our program.”

It’s wise of Fulmer to send out a note like this to people who have played a part in impacting Tennessee over time. It has been a wild week in Knoxville, with drama related to the Vols’ seemingly never-ending coaching search. Former athletic director John Currie was fired on Friday.
Fulmer can go a long way toward moving Tennessee’s program forward by securing a quality hire who has the respect of fans.
