This is going to be a win Tennessee fans remember for a long time.
Vols quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw a last-second, 43-yard Hail Mary touchdown to Jauan Jennings for a 34-31 win Saturday at Georgia.
It was a win similar to one on the other side of the rivalry. In 2001, the Bulldogs won, 26-24, when Verron Haynes hauled in a last-second touchdown catch. Georgia play-by-play announcer Larry Munson gave a now legendary call:
“We just stepped on their face with a hobnail boot and broke their nose!” Munson said. “We just crushed their face!”
While the Bulldogs had their “hobnail boot” to remember for more than a decade, the Volunteers now have a “Dobbnail boot” after Dobbs’ miraculous play.
One fan has even coined that phrase with a T-shirt going on sale:
