Tennessee has one of the top defensive ends in all of college football in Derek Barnett. And now the Volunteers may be in line to land one of college football’s future stars at defensive end.
2017 defensive end Joshua Paschal released his top 7 and the Volunteers made the cut. Tennessee was the only SEC school in the top 7 for the 4-star recruit.

Paschal, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds, hails from Olney, Md., and plays for powerhouse Good Counsel. He is the No. 9 strongside defensive end in the country and the No. 8 player in the state of Maryland. Barnett was also a 4-star recruit but the No. 13 strongside defensive end in the class of 2014.
Tennessee has the No. 11 class for 2017 and currently has 18 commitments after Riley Locklear committed on Saturday. The Volunteers currently have two other defensive end commits for the class of 2017, Latrell Bumphus and Tre Lawson.
The Volunteers open their season against Appalachian State on Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
