Antjuan Simmons knows plenty about Tennessee even though it seems like he is well removed from the program.
Forget the fact that Simmons is just a junior and attends Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Mich. Simmons has an inside source when it comes to Tennessee info.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound junior is close friends with Tennessee running back John Kelly, who is from Oak Park High School in Detroit. That relationship is part of the reason Simmons visited Knoxville for the North Texas game on Saturday.
“When he first signed, he wanted me to come there with him and commit and stuff,” Simmons said of Kelly.
Simmons is a 3-star prospect projected to play running back or linebacker in college.
The relationship between Simmons and Tennessee’s coaches has grown stronger over time thanks to the Kelly connection.
“I’ve been getting recruited by Tennessee for about a year now, so I’ve gotten to know the coaches real well,” Simmons said.
Simmons is in no hurry to make an early decision in his recruitment.
“I’m just letting the process unfold right now,” the 2017 prospect said.
Simmons said he plans to visit Ohio State for the Michigan State game on Saturday before visiting Michigan for the Ohio State game on Nov. 28.
