There will certainly be some bad seats when Tennessee and Virginia Tech play at Bristol Motor Speedway. Imagine being in the back row of a colosseum made for racing, not football.
BMS administrators have perhaps found a remedy to that problem with “Colossus”, which will be the largest center display in motorsports history and will be suspended above the playing field when Vols play the Hokies on Sept 10. Here is an artist’s rendering of the four-sided jumbotron.

The display will weigh a total of 700 tons and utilize 40 miles of cable and fiber optics. One of the cables will reportedly weigh 63 pounds per feet and some of the suspension cables are larger than those that support the Golden Gate Bridge, according to officials at BMS.
