Battle at Bristol brings Bubba Wallace, who dons pads at Vols spring practice
NASCAR driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace discovered his best football position while practicing with Tennessee’s football team on Thursday.
“Yeah, waterboy,” the driver joked after donning full pads and participating in practice, according to a report by GoVols247.com’s Wes Rucker.
Wallace was on campus to help promote the Battle at Bristol on Sept. 10, a non-conference football game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is expected to set the all-time collegiate record for attendance. Game organizers are expecting approximately 150,000 fans for a game that has been talked about for nearly 20 years and is now finally coming to fruition.
Wallace is the driver of the No. 6 EcoBoost Ford for Roush Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He is currently eighth in the points standings.
