Peyton Manning impressed plenty of fans while a standout quarterback at Tennessee and a star for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. Add Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to that list.
Wilson posted a thank you note to The Players Tribune’ website that illustrated his admiration for Manning after he led his team to a victory in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night. Wilson also posted a picture of himself when he attended Manning’s annual passing camp in the 10th grade.
“If this is it,” Wilson wrote of Manning’s possible retirement, “there’s one moment I won’t forget. 10th grade. Louisiana. At your quarterback camp. You inspired the kid in the green shirt. You inspired me to work hard. To be disciplined. To be respectful. To take notes. You inspired me to love the process. To love the sweat. To love the tears. But most of all…You inspired me to love the game.”
“Thanks, Peyton. If this is it, Thanks.”
When asked about his potential retirement after winning the Super Bowl, Manning said he would take some time to decide his next move.
