Tennessee fans may not have fond memories of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield. Last season, the Sooners signal caller led a late comeback against the Volunteers, with Oklahoma winning, 31-24, in double overtime.
But in an interview with Athlon Sports, Mayfield praised the Tennessee fans and environment at Neyland Stadium.
“Last year when we went to play Tennessee in Neyland Stadium, that was probably the best game experience I’ve had and probably will ever have. That’s a different type of loud. I can’t even describe it. It was unbelievable,” Mayfield said.
After beating Tennessee last year, Mayfield led Oklahoma to an 11-2 record, which included a Big-12 Championship and a trip to the College Football Playoff.
Tennessee hopes to be in a similar position as Oklahoma at the end of 2016, and Vols fans will surely make it difficult for opposing quarterbacks along the way.
