Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was not upset that Al Jazeera America was shutting down. That’s understandable.
The former Tennessee star was at the center of an investigation aired on the news network that his wife received human growth hormone, perhaps for her husband. Manning quickly and passionately denied the report, which was eventually discredited when the main source of the story said he fabricated the tale. Manning said he would probably sue the network.
Al Jazeera America announced it would shut down in April after debuting in 2013. Here, Manning was asked if he had any comments about the network’s sudden closing during a press conference.
“I’m sure it’s going to be just devastating to all their viewers,” Manning said during an interview session that was posted on denverbroncos.com. The comment can be heard at the 9:00 mark of the following video.
After being sidelined since Week 10, Manning is scheduled to be the starter for the Broncos when they play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Divisional Round.
