Former Tennessee QB Peyton Manning and current Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will be the Vols’ representatives at the coin toss Saturday at the Battle at Bristol, the Knoxville News-Sentinel’s Rhiannon Potkey reported Friday.
The pair will serve as honorary The Vols will play Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday in a game expected to draw as many as 150,000 fans.
Manning, who retired from the NFL after winning the Super Bowl last season, holds Tennessee records for career passing yards, passing touchdowns and completion percentage. Haslam’s family owns Pilot Flying J, the title sponsor of the Battle at Bristol.
Manning was in Denver this week for the presentation of the Lombardi Trophy to the Broncos before their season opener against Carolina.
