Peyton Manning is a pretty funny guy. He’s proved that through the years via appearances on Saturday Night Live and various endorsement commercials of varying degrees of hilarity.
So it makes sense that the television network Comedy Central would seek to take advantage of those skills now that the legendary quarterback has moved on from his football playing days.
The network recently revealed that the Vols great will join comedians David Spade, Jimmy Carr, Pete Davidson, Rob Riggle and Jeff Ross, as well as actress Bo Derek, in a roast of actor Rob Lowe. “The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe” episode is slated to air on Sept. 5 — Labor Day.
You may remember that Lowe, who is a noted Indianapolis Colts fan, tried to break the news of Manning’s retirement on Twitter back in 2012 (and props to him for leaving that Tweet active more than four years later.)

Considering that Manning went on to play through the 2015 NFL season and win a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos in February, that incident is likely to be brought up during the three-hour event.
The network is known for its roasts of celebrities, but they’re not all that common. The last roast was of Justin Bieber in March of 2015. Here’s a look at a promotional video for Lowe’s big day:
