One year ago, the sports world lost a legend. Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt passed away at the age of 64 on June 28, 2016.
The phrase “gone, but not forgotten” is tossed around in our society these days, but for those who knew Summitt, it rings all too true. On Wednesday, those who still miss the eight-time national champion coach shared touching tributes with the use of a hashtag ‘#ThanksPat’ on Twitter.
Summitt, who posted a remarkable 1,098-208 record in 38 years as coach of the Lady Vols, is considered a pioneer of the sport and viewed as one of the most influential sports figures of the generation.
