Tennessee linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin may have played his final down for the Vols.
According to a report from Inside Tennessee’s Danny Parker, Reeves-Maybin will have surgery “within the next two weeks to repair a biceps subluxation in his left shoulder.”
Given the timing, it would likely spell the end of a storied career in Knoxville for the senior captain.
It is a devastating blow to a Tennessee defense that relied heavily on the senior during his storied career. Reeves-Maybin led Tennessee with 105 tackles and 14 tackles for loss during the 2015 campaign, and recorded 101 tackles as a sophomore in 2014.
But injury issues lingered during Reeves-Maybin’s now shortened senior season with the Vols, limiting his participation during the first five games of the season.
Reeves-Maybin showed flashes of brilliance in a 13-tackle performance against Virginia Tech in the Battle at Bristol, but logged just two tackles in the first half of the Florida game before exiting due to his injury.
