It was once believed that Bryce Thompson would sign with South Carolina.
He went to high school in the state and had committed to the Gamecocks last year. That option didn’t pan out right before National Signing Day in February.
Instead, he’ll go slightly west to Tennessee, where Austin Price of Volquest.com reports he’s already enrolled and taking classes.
The 4-star prospect becomes the latest summer addition to Tennessee’s 2018 recruiting class, as Thompson enrolled in summer classes for the June session and will begin offseason workouts with strength coach Craig Fitzgerald immediately following his arrival.
Thompson was ranked the No. 5 player in South Carolina, the No. 12 athlete in his class and the 301st best player overall, according to the 247Sports composite.
He stands 6-foot and weighs 180 pounds. Thompson was also fielding offers from Virginia Tech, Washington State and North Carolina, among others.
