Report: Tennessee assistant could be next Maryland offensive coordinator
Former Florida assistant D.J. Durkin is reportedly the new coach at Maryland, and he could bring an old friend from Gainesville with him.
Tennessee wide receivers coach and passing coordinator Zach Azzanni could be a candidate to join Durkin at Maryland as offensive coordinator, USA Today’s Dan Wolken reported.
Azzanni, who worked with Durkin under Urban Meyer at Florida in 2010, has been at Tennessee for three seasons.
Durkin left Florida after the 2014 season and spent this year as Jim Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator at Michigan.
Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and ex-UGA coach Mark Richt were two names previously connected with the head coaching job at Maryland, which fired Randy Edsall midway through the season.
